Alrighty ladies and gents, here is a belated post dedicated to the eternal man roommate and I’s first anniversary (7/6) and my favorite holiday in the world… the 4th of July!
So we made it a year! I’m for real proud of ourselves. This last year has been quite the journey and ride and we are stoked we made it. I was talking to a friend the other day who was saying that their young marriage hadn’t really had any trials, and that it’d been generally easy and fun. I think that’s true of a lot of young couples, but I know that God gives us trials to grow and that whether they come sooner or they come later, they come and they come at the right time for each person and couple. Whether it’s finances, illness, personal challenges, having or not having kids, finishing school, or just those bumps in the road that come with being human and being alive, trials happen and they help us grow and become better people. I know that that’s what this last year has been for us. We’ve grown a lot and been able to help each other through everything. It hasn’t been easy and there have been times we’ve wanted to give up, but thanks to the Gospel, and a lot of really great people in our lives, we’ve held on and we’re keepin’ on keepin’ on.
Anyhow… after that epistle of a paragraph… we had a really fun date! We went to the temple to do sealings that morning. I don’t know who gave us the idea for the tradition to do sealings on your anniversary but we liked it a lot. We followed that up by 7-11 slurpees!
I worked that afternoon but when I got off Brandon and I went and rented a tandem bicycle. We’ve been wanting to do that for literally 6 years so it was fun to actually, finally do it. We may or may not have almost ran into small children as we tried to figure out how to ride it, but we had a lot of fun!
We bought some new clothes for the occasion and went out to eat at La Jolla Groves in the Riverwoods. It was delicious! Pricey but tasty!
Oh! The 4th of July! Um… this isn’t in chronological order, forgive me any fellow history nerds out there. So the 4th of July is hands down my favorite holiday. EVER. Summer, BBQs, Fireworks, ‘Merica, and Famerly. Yeah. I love it more than any other holiday. Ok maybe it’s tied with my birthday, but you get the point.
So we spent the day hanging out with my side of the family eating lunch and going to trafalga! Goood times. My family was making fun of me because I don’t like mini golf and I’ve golfed the same way since I was 4. I have no patience for mini golf. So I just hit the ball as hard as I can or as quickly as I can in order to get done with it or to sabotage anyone else’s game. I get a kick out of being bothersome when people are trying to keep score. Yeah…. Let’s just say I didn’t get the Pass of All Passes for the mini golf at Trafalga. Negative there.
After that we went to the Stadium of Fire with Brandon’s side of the family! It was rockin. We saw some military dudes jump out of planes and land in the stadium, rocked out to “Call Me Maybe”, and jammed to Kelly Clarkson (who was actually FANTASTIC!). Follow that with a killer firework show? I think yes.
It was a great day and a great time with family. Well. I think that will be it for now considering this post is about 55 pages. Peace out kids. Go Jazz!
