Yeeesh it’s cold!! And I loved La La Land.

January 15, 2017

Confession:  I have been a baby pants running this winter.  This week I went once.  ONCE.  On the treadmill and I hated it.  Ha ha. I told myself I’d go at least 4 times a week.  I haven’t even been close.  Here’s what happened about 3 of the times I attempted to run this week.

Me in the morning:  Oh.  I can’t WAIT to run.  I’m going to run at [fill in the blank] time.

Me in the afternoon:  I need food.  After I eat and give myself 3 hours of recovery, I’ll go run.

Me after 3 hours (or a 20 minute nap turned into a 2 hour nap), looking out the window:  It is WAY too cold out there.  I can’t go out.  I’ll die.  I’ll get lung cancer.  I’ll freeze.  I can’t.  Maybe I’ll run on the treadmill later tonight.

Me later that night, looking at the treadmill:  I HATE the treadmill!  I can’t even look at it.  I can’t do it.  I can’t get on the treadmill.  I HATE that machine.  Why can’t it just be warm?  Why can’t it just be March or April and warm up?  Why does it keep snowing?  Why are treadmills the worst?  I have plenty of time to train.  I’ll go tomorrow.  It will be 34 degrees instead of 26 degrees.  That will make me feel better.  I PROMISE I will go tomorrow.

Repeat daily for most of the winter.

This is me when it’s not cold and hard to run, ha ha.

So needless to say I need to suck it up, ha.  That’s my goal this week.  To suck it up and go running.  I’ll let you know how it goes, ha ha.

In other non-running related news… we are soooooo busy!  Brandon is working part-time at UVU and full-time at his lab in Murray.  I’m coaching basketball, teaching [which are both going FANTASTIC!!], and going to grad school — not to mention being a full time Jazz fan 😉 .  [This busy stuff could have something to do with the lack of motivation to run, but I know for my mental sanity, I need to ha ha.]

Because of Brandon’s schedule, we’ve been going to bed really early the last 2 weeks so he can get up in time to catch the train.  I am not the best at going to bed at 9 PM.  The other night Brandon conked out after like 3 minutes and after laying there for a good 45 minutes I decided to watch the Mighty Ducks for coaching inspiration.  Made a good choice there, ha ha.  Even though this semester is going to be CRAZY… it’s fun for each of us to be pursuing our dreams and doing what we love.

This is an old picture, but I found it and I like it!

Speaking of pursuing our dreams…. has anyone seen La La Land?  Brandon and I went late last night and it was awesome!  In some ways it reminded me of a musical version of the notebook…but aside from that & one lame f-word that was dropped…. it rocked!  Awesome retro references, a little humor, and random singing and dancing was great.  The ending wasn’t my favorite but the whole time it had me trying to figure out the deeper meaning of it and I thought about it all last night & today.  I’d say that’s a good movie.

Yeah that’s about it for the updates for us!  I’ll try and keep this blog updated as much as possible.  Go Jazz!

That’s sweet that you’re coaching basketball! Oh my heck you would be so fun to have as a coach!
Also I need HELP! haha I want to train for a half marathon while I’m in Peru this semester (because I’ve turned into a lazy bum who never runs) but hello, I can’t go run the streets by myself like a crazy white girl. I know I will live close to a gym but for some reason I’m having a hard time imagining me run 13 miles on a treadmill….what do I do???

Bah!! I’m a lazy bum too ha ha ha. My advice is to do the treadmill as much as you can and bike the rest. Biking is way easier to do for long periods of time. Or see if there’s another volunteer/person that will run with you!
